FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution are signing free agent midfielder Diego Fagúndez.
He will occupy a senior roster slot.

Diego Fagúndez is a 31-year-old, 5’8, 150lb midfielder from Montevideo, Uruguay.
At the club level, Fagúndez has played 478 career games (31,519 minutes) across the United States. A product of the New England Revolution Academy (2009-10), he began his professional career by signing with New England Revolution (2011-20) as the club’s first ever homegrown player. In 2021, Fagúndez joined MLS expansion side Austin FC (2021-23). In August of 2023, he was traded from Austin FC to Los Angeles Galaxy (2023-25). He now returns back to New England Revolution (2026 – present).
In total club career numbers, the midfielder has contributed 84 career goals, 79 assists, along with 48 yellow cards and 1 red cards.
Internationally, Fagúndez has 4 appearances (145 minutes) for the Uruguay U20 Youth National Team. He can internationally represent Uruguay or the United States.
In regard to individual honors, Fagúndez is an MLS Cup Champion (2024 with LA Galaxy), was LA Galaxy Player of the Year (2025) & is a member of the New England Revolution All-Time Team (2020).

According to sources, Fagúndez arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, March 7th, to trial with New England.
After a successful trial, the club & Fagúndez agreed to one-year contract with an additional club option.
Fagúndez was in-talks with multiple teams after hitting free agency. He received offers to play in MLS, Liga MX, LigaPro Serie A, Liga AUF, & the Saudi Pro League.
At a glance, Fagúndez returns home to New England where he holds numerous individual MLS records including: the youngest player in MLS history to reach 50 career regular season goals scored at 23 years, 254 days old, youngest player in MLS history to make 200 career appearances and the second youngest to make 150 starts, became first MLS Homegrown field player to eclipse 15,000 regular season minutes played, & actively ranks in the top-10 in club history for games played, goals, assists, shots, and shots on target, and was the club’s first ever Home Grown Player.
In his Revolution career, Fagúndez has made 278 appearances for New England where he has 55 goals & 47 assists.
