FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have traded goalkeeper Alex Bono to D.C. United for up to $150,000 in General Allocation Money.
Bono will occupy a supplemental roster slot.

Alex Bono is a 31-year-old, 6’3, 209lb goalkeeper from Syracuse, New York.
At the club level, Bono has played 227 career games (20,140 minutes) across the United States. He was drafted 6th overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC (2015-22). In 2023, Bono joined D.C. United (2023-24) after his contract with Toronto had expired. Following his 2025 contract option being declined by D.C. United, Bono signed with New England Revolution (2025). He now returns to D.C. United (2026).
Internationally, Bono has 1 senior appearances (90 minutes) for the United States Men’s National Team.
In career numbers, the goalkeeper has allowed 337 career goals against while securing 49 career clean sheets. He has only received 7 yellow cards in his career.

Mid-day on Friday, January 23rd, journalist Joseph Lowery of Backheeled had reported that D.C. United had acquired Alex Bono in a trade with New England Revolution for General Allocation Money.
Sources later confirmed this deal to be true.
On Monday, January 26th, the deal was confirmed. Deal for $50,000 in 2026 GAM & $75,000 in 2027 GAM IF Bono re-signs with D.C. United.
Bono joins a D.C. United goalkeeper group that features Sean Johnson, Jordan Farr, & Kim Joon Hong (who is currently on loan).
