LAFC is certainly attempting to make up for lost time.

In a midst of a busy stretch that will see them play four matches over the last two weeks, LAFC so far is trying to make the best of a challenging situation. Two days after routing the Colorado Rapids, LAFC did not let up against FC Dallas on Saturday night, as its offense kept the pressure on the visitors while also neutralizing them on defense, and LAFC won its second straight match with a 2-0 win at BMO Stadium.

“It was a tough game honestly,” LAFC forward Nathan Ordaz, who scored in his second straight match, said. “They’re a good team, they work hard, but I think we just all worked harder.”

Ordaz and Denis Bouanga found the back net for LAFC (9-5-5, 32 points), who continued to climb up the Western Conference Standings, and while LAFC is only sixth place at the moment, they are currently only six points out of third place in the conference.

LAFC jumped ahead in the 31st minute. Marky Delgado forced FC Dallas defender Patrickson Delgado to turnover the ball deep inside Dallas’ side of the field. Upon getting the ball, Delgado immediately passed to Bouanga, who turned, then passed to Ordaz inside the penalty area, and Ordaz gathered himself into a shooting motion, then one-timed a right-footed shot that beat keeper Maarten Paes far post to give LAFC the lead.

“We capitalized on their mistakes, which maybe we were struggling to do a couple of months back,” Ordaz said. “We’re trying to start a new streak and get first place.”

LAFC was then gifted a chance to double the advantage just before halftime. Bouanga dribbled into the penalty area from the left side, Dallas defender Shaq Moore marked Bouanga, who attempted to dribbled past him, Moore tried to keep up, but ended up pushing Bouanga down and referee Allen Chapman signaled LAFC to the penalty spot. Bouanga converted the penalty in the 45th minute to give LAFC the two-goal cushion just before halftime.

LAFC’s busy stretch continues on Wednesday, as they head out to the midwest to face second-place Minnesota United, followed by the second match of El Trafico against the LA Galaxy on Saturday night.
