FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution (6-6-7, 24 pts) were defeated 2-1 versus Portland Timbers (9-6-5, 33 pts) on Saturday night.
The match kicked off at 10:30 p.m. ET at Providence Park to a crowd of 25,000.

The match kicked off with New England starting from the center circle and immediately launching the ball into Portland’s defensive third.
Portland had the first moment of the match entering the 5th minute when a freekick sent into the area was confidently headed away and won by defender Tanner Beason.
Santiago Moreno had another chance for Portland just two minutes later when he turned defender Peyton Miller and uncorked a close-range shot from a tough angle that was saved by Aljaž Ivačič & then cleared by Tanner Beason.
Peyton Miller had the first chance of the match for New England entering the 16th minute when Peyton Miller unleashed a left-footed shot toward the center of the goal that was saved by Maxime Crépeau & then cleared out for a corner kick.
Entering the 20th minute, Portland Timbers took the lead.

Winger Santiago Moreno played a lofted ball to the back post to find Ian Smith open to unleash a rocket past goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič for his first career MLS goal.
Luca Langoni had the next opportunity for New England when his left-footed shot was forced and sent extremely high and over the left post.

Midfielder Carles Gil lofted an unbelievable through ball that found forward Luca Langoni in space. He took on Kamal Miller, dropped him, then slotted the ball into the corner past goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau to make it 1-1.
Leo Campana then had an unbelievable chance to score just one minute later when defender Peyton Miller squared the ball into the area to Campana and he managed to send the ball over the net.
New England had the last chance of the half when Peyton Miller found Alhassan Yusuf in the closing stages, however, his effort was blocked and cleared.
After 45+2 minutes, the match entered halftime with the scoreline level at 1-1.

The second half kicked off with Portland Timbers starting from the center circle and immediately elected to attempt to launch the ball into New England’s defensive third to begin the half.
Portland’s first chance of the half came just two minutes in when forward Kevin Kelsy forced a shot wide of the net while being defended by Brandon Bye.
Leo Campana had yet another amazing opportunity in the 48th minute when a low-driven cross into the area found Campana near the back of the six-yard box but unfortunately Campana sent his shot over the bar once again.
Kevin Kelsy had a massive opportunity in the 51st minute when he was essentially on a breakaway and was hunted down by Brayan Ceballos & Mamadou Fofana to thwart Kelsy of having a shot on target.
Leo Campana had a shot on target saved away by goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau after he received a small through-ball by Carles Gil in the 55th minute.

In the 58th minute, Portland Timbers head coach Phil Neville made his first change of the match by replacing Kamal Miller for Gage Guerra.
Gage Guerra had the next chance for Portland when he got on the end of a cross in the 62nd minute and sent his header over the bar.
In the 70th minute, Portland Timbers head coach Phil Neville made his second and third change of the match by replacing Kevin Kelsy & David Ayala for Felipe Mora & Diego Chará.
Entering the 72nd minute, Portland regained the lead.

Midfielder David Da Costa received the ball in the center of the park, took on Brandon Bye and unleashed a curled effort that deflected off the foot off of Peyton Miller and into the bottom right corner past goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič to make it 2-1.
In the 73rd minute, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his first change of the match by replacing Luca Langoni with Maxi Urruti.
Santiago Moreno had a massive chance in the 76th minute when his curled effort from the right flank was met with a diving save by goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič.
Brayan Ceballos had a chance of his own just two minutes later when he sent his effort high over the bar.

In the 78th minute, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his second change of the match by replacing Brandon Bye with Luis Díaz.
In the 82nd minute, Portland Timbers head coach Phil Neville made his final two changes of the match by replacing Ian Smith & Joao Ortiz for Cristhian Paredes & Eric Miller
Portland had two massive opportunities to add to their lead in the 86th minute when Santiago Moreno combined with Kevin Da Costa and unleashed a rocket that was saved by Aljaž Ivačič. The ball then fell for Da Costa, and he sent his shot wide of the right post.
New England had a chance just two minutes later when a delivery into the area by Carles Gil was headed on by Alhassan Yusuf just over the bar.
Maxi Urruti had a chance for New England in the 90+1 minute when he sent his effort just over the crossbar.
After the 90+4 minutes, the match concluded with Portland holding on for the 2-1 victory.

With the result, New England remain in 11th place in the MLS Eastern Conference.
New England has their road unbeaten streak snapped at 7 games (last road loss came April 5 v FC Cincinnati).
