The match kicked off with San Jose Earthquakes starting from the center circle, building out of the right flank and advancing the ball into New England’s defensive third.
New England had the first major chance of the match when a ball played into the area by Ilay Feingold was shot by Leo Campana, however, it was blocked and cleared.
Leo Campana had the next chance in the 16th minute when he attempted an outside the boot shot that went wide of the net.
Less than one minute later, San Jose had their first chance when a close-range shot by Nick Lima went just wide of the net.

Nick Fernandez then had a chance of his own after being set-up by Mark-Anthony Kaye in the 21st minute, however, he sent his shot into the 20th row of the stands.
San Jose’s next massive chance came in the 25th minute when a header by Amahl Pellegrino went just wide of the net.
Amahl Pellegrino had the chance of the match when his left-footed shot from less than six-yards out was put wide of the net.

Following the challenge, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his first change of the match by replacing Leo Campana with Luis Diaz.
In the 35th minute, San Jose defender Max Floriani was issued a yellow card for fouling Revolution midfielder Alhassan Yusuf.
Mark-Anthony Kaye had achieved chance of his own in the 39th minute when a left-footed volley attempt was deflected away for a corner kick.
After 45+2 minutes, the match entered halftime with the scoreline level at 0-0.

Prior to the start of the second half, Earthquakes head coach Bruce Arena made his first change of the match by replacing goalkeeper Daniel with goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr.
The second half kicked off with New England starting from the center circle and elected to build out of the back to start the half.
San Jose had a massive opportunity to score in the 46th minute when Amahl Pellegrino had a break away and elected to pass instead of shoot and missed the mark.
New England’s next chance came in the 53rd minute when a free kick taken by Carles Gil completely missed the mark due to Gil slipping.
In the 57th minute, Earthquakes head coach Bruce Arena made his second, third, and fourth changes of the match by replacing Nick Fernandez, Amahl Pellegrino, Jamar Ricketts with DeJuan Jones, Beau Leroux, & Ousseni Bouda.

In the 64th minute, Revolution defender Tanner Beason was issued a yellow card for taking down forward Paul Marie.
Carles Gil had a chance in the 66th minute when his long-distant shot was caught comfortably by goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr.
Paul Marie had the chance of the match in the 67th minute when his left-footed strike from outside the area struck the crossbar.
Entering the 68th minute, New England had thought they had gained the lead after a goal by forward Ignatius Ganago, however, the played was deemed to be offsides. VAR did not intervene.
Alhassan Yusuf then had a chance in the 71st minute when his right-footed shot went wide of the net.

Carles Gil then had a massive chance in the 73rd minute when a free kick delivered into the area was missed from close range by Mamadou Fofana.
In the 75th minute, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his second and third change of the match by replacing Ilay Feingold & Ignatius Ganago with Maxi Urruti & Brandon Bye.
Aljaž Ivačič was needed in the 77th minute when he made a spectacular save off of a massive header by Mark-Anthony Kaye.
In the 78th minute, Earthquakes midfielder Beau Leroux was issued a yellow card for persistent fouling of Revolution midfielder Carles Gil.
Less than 3 minutes later, in the 81st minute, Earthquakes defender Nick Lima was issued a yellow card for fouling Alhassan Yusuf.

In the 83rd minute, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his fourth change of the match by replacing defender Tanner Beason with forward Tomás Chancalay.
In the 85th minute, Earthquakes head coach Bruce Arena made his fifth and final change of the match by replacing Paul Marie with Josef Martínez.
Maxi Urruti had a chance in the 87th minute when he put his effort just wide of the net.
After 90+2 minutes, the match concluded in a 0-0 draw.
