Daniel Amartey may yet play again for Leicester City this season.

The 24 year old Ghana international has been out for eight weeks with a broken leg, suffered in a 1-1 draw with West Ham United.

Amartey featured in nine matches for Claude Puel’s side before his injury lay off, his versatility being utilised as he played at right back for the start of this campaign, also filling in at centre back when needed. Since his injury, the midfielder has extended his stay at The King Power stadium, signing a contract until 2022.

Speaking to LCFC TV in December, Amartey said: “I am very happy to sign this contract at Leicester City. I am a simple and easy guy. I work hard and I focus. By God’s grace, my recovery is getting better and I have to be strong when I come back. I have to be ready, for the club and for the manager.”

The Ghanaian has made 42 Premier League appearances for Leicester, scoring one goal. He was involved in the title winning season of 2015/16 where he also picked up a title medal from FC Copenhagen, for his involvement in their league win before his January transfer to England.

A return to fitness in March would be a huge boost for Leicester City, who are hoping to finish in the top eight this season, meaning the midfielder could be available for the final run in, with six games in five weeks to round the season off, more if Leicester make good progress in the FA Cup this season.
