Seven of the top ten candidates to replace Sepp Blatter are European according to bookies’ odds.

The man who challenged Blatter, Jordanian prince Ali Al-Hussein  and UEFA boss Michel Platini  are co-favorites. The only candidate mentioned with a CONCACAF connection is Ted Howard, the American deputy general secretary for CONCACAF. He succeeded Chuck Blazer as CONCACAF general secretary.

Despite being the focus of English media allegations, Cameroon’s Issa Hayatou is mentioned among the candidates.

Turkey’s Senes Erzik  is the vice president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and is a surprise among a list of better known Europeans, such as former players Luis Figo and David Ginola.

Michael van Praag and  Jerome Champagne both had brief candidacies this time round before withdrawing due to lack of support.

Greg Dyke is chairman of England’s FA.
