Six Nations Matchday Three: A Welsh Masterclass

Six Nations Matchday Three: A Welsh Masterclass

0

Wales continued their dominance of England in years ending in nine. Scotland continue to have troubles in France continue on days ending in ‘y’. And while Italy continue to be more competitive in matches, their Six Nations campaign is likely ending in sixth. Here are the details of Matchday 3 in the Six Nations:

Wales 21-13 England:

Wales continues their winning streak in tests to twelve and streak over England in years ending in nine to eight. The Welsh played their best 20 minutes of the Six Nations by first getting a try out of a 34-phase run finished off by Cory Hill and then a spectacular play by Josh Adams to get on the end of Dan Biggar’s kick and seal the victory at the Principality.

As a result, Wales are now in pole position for both the title and their first Grand Slam since 2012. As for England, who looked more in control in the first sixty minutes before things went pear-shaped, they fall to second place and now have to hope Wales slips up.

France 27-10 Scotland:

Scotland’s misery at the Stade de France continued on Saturday. It could arguably have been more had two tries not been ruled out by TMO. It was just 10-3 France at halftime, but an opening minute try by the French essentially sealed things.

It was all France in this one after a depleted Scottish squad continued the errors made in the previous match against Ireland. It means that France still has an outside shot at the title while Scotland can only play spoiler now to both Wales and England.

Italy 16-26 Ireland:

Italy continue to be game side in this competition and improved vastly from their last matchup against Ireland at Soldier Field last November. In fact, tries by Edorado Padovani and Luca Morisi had Italy up at halftime, 16-12.

However, Keith Earls and Conor Murray replied with tries in the second half for a bonus point and go within three points of the top. However, they will need to play much better if they are going to defeat France and then Wales if they want to repeat as champions of the Six Nations.

With just two match days left in the Six Nations, it appears we are heading towards a grandstand ending with four  teams still in the running and to see if Wales can continue their winning ways en route to a Grand Slam.
