FC Dallas 3-1 Real Salt Lake

FRISCO, TX–Petar Musa did not score last night, but he didn’t need to. It would be three other players for FCD who scored in their 3-1 victory over Real Salt Lake. It’s back-to-back wins for the Red Hoops while RSL have suddenly lost three of their last four in league play.

The first goal came in the 18th minute. Kaick was taken down, but there was an advantage and Musa then fed the ball to Santiago Moreno who shot from just outside the area and got it by Rafael Cabral far post. The second goal came six minutes later involving the same three players on a counterattack. This time, Moreno sent a long ball to Musa whose shot was saved by Cabral, but Kaick was there to put in the rebound.

Despite a 67-33 possession advantage, RSL could muster just three shots on target of the twelve they had as they pressed to get back into the match. It wouldn’t be until the 85th minute that they finally broke through as Diego Luna pulled one back from just inside the area.

RSL’s press for an equalizer would end up leading to FCD’s insurance goal two minutes into stoppage time. Off an RSL corner kick, FCD launched a counterattack sending Samuel Sarver in behind the defense and round Cabral to secure the three points for the hosts.

FC Dallas are now seventh in the Western Conference table just behind RSL both on 19 points, though RSL currently have more wins.

Both teams have home games on Wednesday night. FC Dallas host Vancouver (7:30pm CT, Apple TV) while Real Salt Lake host Houston Dynamo (7:30pm MT, Apple TV).
