Red Bull New York 0-2 Toronto FC

HARRISON, NJ–An early own goal and another late strike left Red Bull New York coming away with zero points once again.

Just three minutes into the match, Toronto got off to a dream start. Theo Corbeanu drilled a low cross across the box in aim of Josh Sargent, but the ball deflected off Justin Che into the back of the net.

A few minutes later Cameron Harper had a huge chance to level, but the 24 year old winger dragged his shot wide of the post.

It was the wingers that were creating chances for the Red Bulls and this time it was Cade Cowell he went down the outside and hit a low shot towards the near post, it did not trouble Luka Gavran however, who pushed it behind for a corner.

It was a fairly uninspiring second half but Red Bulls kept piling on the pressure in search of an equalizer.

Toronto doubled their lead, ensuring all three points would go back to Canada. substitute Daniel Salloi capitalized from a breakaway and almost had the freedom of New York as he raced through on goal. The Hungarian showed great composure to slot the ball past Ethan Horvath to double his side’s lead.

Immediately following the restart Julian Hall had the ball in the back of the net, but it was ruled out for an offside on Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

“There’s no, at least not that I know of, magic pill or perfect formula” said head coach Michael Bradley “you have to every day keep at it. Be consistent with how you work, how you try to help the players understand moments, situations, individually, collectively.”

Next up, Red Bulls will host Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami CF on Saturday, October 24.

Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET with coverage on Apple TV in English and Spanish.
