Seattle Sounders 1-1 CF Montreal
SEATTLE, WA–The Sounders needed a win to keep pace with the frontrunners in the West. CF Montreal needed a win to keep their slender playoff hopes alive (and get some help elsewhere) before competing for the Canadian Championship on Wednesday against Forge FC of Hamilton. Neither side got the win as the match ended 1-1.
The visitors took the lead in the 13th minute. Alexis Sanchez sent a long ball that went to Noah Streit, who then left it for Hennadii Synchuk to strike from the edge of the penalty area.

The Sounder then pressed for an equalizer and finally got it in the 66th minute, Montreal’s attempt to clear a ball was blocked by Jesus Ferreira and was put in by Sebastian Gomez. From there, the Sounders looked for a winner, but the closest they came was when Jordan Morris’s shot hit the goal post in the 70th minute.
Montreal nearly snatched it themselves in stoppage time, but Wiki Carmona’s shot hit the woodwork. Montreal have won just twice in league play since May 9th (2-10-7). They will host Forge FC in the Canadian Championship Final on Wednesday (7pm ET, OneSoccer).
The Sounders will travel to San Diego next Saturday (7:30pm PT, Apple TV).
