Tacoma Stars 8-6 Baltimore Blast
KENT, WA–The Major Arena Soccer League recently kicked off its schedule and the Tacoma Stars are off to a 2-0-0 start after a weekend sweep of the Baltimore Blast at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent. Saturday’s match was won 3-2 with Michael Ramos scoring the winner. On Sunday, the Stars defeated the Blast, 8-6.
The Stars went off to a 3-1 lead in the first half, but five minutes into the fourth quarter, the Blast had a 5-4 lead. Logan Jones equalized for the Stars just 28 seconds later and Tyler John scored back-t0-back goals to make it 7-5 Tacoma and complete a hat trick. The Blast pulled one back with 56 seconds left with a sixth attacker, but Jones would put the match to bed with an empty-net goal 12 second from time.
The Stars next play on Saturday at home against the Empire Strykers at 6pm PT. The match will be streamed on YouTube.
In other indoor soccer news, the MASL suspended Milwaukee Wave’s Derek Huffman five matches for sending Kansas City Comets’ Christian Anderaos head first into the boards. Huffman received a red card for the incident and the league’s disciplinary review committee added four matches to the ban. Kansas City’s Stefan Mijatovic was given a one-match ban for stepping on and standing on a Wave player in the ensuing fracas.
Back on the Sound, Washington Huskies Men’s Soccer team won the National Championship on Monday with a 3-2 golden goal win over North Carolina State in Cary, NC. Harrison Bertos scored the match winner for the Huskies who win their first even national title in Men’s Soccer.
