Tacoma Defiance 1-2 Portland Timbers 2
TUKWILA, WA–On Sunday, Tacoma Defiance fell to Portland Timbers 2, 2-1, at StarFire Sports Complex in MLS NEXT Pro play. Timbers 2 scored twice in a six-minute span. First, Kyle Linhares sent a long ball to Gage Guerra who beat Lars Helleren far post for the opening score. Six minutes later, Linhares got a goal of his own after Guerra’s initial shot went off Helleren and right to the feet of Linhares to make it 2-0. Tacoma pulled one back in the 71st minute through Yu Tsukanome.
Tacoma slip to 12th in the Western Conference table with the loss while Timbers 2 vault ahead of them into 11th. The Defiance next play on Friday at home against Ventura County (7pm PT, Apple TV) while Timbers 2 will play host to Real Monarchs on Sunday (6pm PT, Apple TV).
