Soccer on the Sound: Huskies down Redhawks on penalties

Washington 0-0 Seattle U. (Washington advance 3-0 on penalties)

SEATTLE, WA–The University of Washington advanced in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament over Seattle U. in a penalty shootout after 110 minutes of goalless action. Huskies goalkeeper Jadon Bowton was the man of the match making six saves in the 110 minutes and then three more in the penalty shootouts.

Despite 18 shots on the night and six on target vs. Washington’s 11 shots and three on target, the Redhawks were unable to find the net at all on the night and would not do so in the shootout either. Egor Akulov would score the clinching spot kick to send Washington through to the next round where they will face Southern Methodist University (SMU) on Sunday in Dallas. Kickoff is at 4pm Pacific time.

Yuriy Tsupruk is our man around Puget Sound taking the photos for the Seattle college scene as well as Tacoma Defiance and Tacoma Stars. Below is a sample of his photos from the night at Husky Soccer Stadium and you may view more by clicking on the link.
