Revolution II Clinch MLS NEXT Pro Playoff Berth with 3-1 Victory Over Toronto FC II

TORONTO — New England Revolution II (12-7-8, 46 points) earned a 3-1 victory over Toronto FC II (12-5-7, 45 points) on Sunday afternoon.

The match kicked off at 2:30 p.m. ET at York Lions Stadium.

Following a service into the area, Myles Morgan rose to meet the delivery and headed the ball into the bottom-left corner of the net to give New England a 1-0 lead.

However, the Revolution’s advantage was short-lived, as Toronto found the equalizer in the 45th minute.

Defender Luca Costabile elected to strike with his left foot from the left side of the box, curling his effort into the top-right corner of the net to level the match at 1-1.

Following 45 minutes and one minute of first-half stoppage time, the halftime whistle sounded with the two sides level at 1-1.

Prior to the start of the second half, Toronto FC II head coach Gianni Cimini made three changes, replacing Damar Dixon, Bryce Boneau, and Abundance Salaou with Tristan Blyth, Marko Stojadinovic, and Raequan Campbell-Dennis.

Toronto opened the second half on the front foot, immediately pushing forward and applying pressure in New England’s defensive third.

Cristiano Oliveira generated the first opportunity of the half for New England in the 47th minute, but his effort was comfortably handled by goalkeeper Adisa De Rosario.

Despite Toronto’s early pressure, New England regained the lead in the 62nd minute.

Following a poorly cleared corner kick, the ball fell to Javaun Mussenden, who elected to strike toward goal. His effort took a deflection before finding the back of the net to give New England a 2-1 lead.

Toronto nearly found an equalizer in the 70th minute during a chaotic sequence inside the New England penalty area. Multiple efforts toward goal were denied by a combination of Donovan Parisian, Tylon Smith, Jake Shannon, and Jared Smith to preserve the Revolution’s advantage.

In the 72nd minute, Toronto FC II head coach Gianni Cimini made his final two changes of the match, replacing Luca Costabile and Jahmarie Nolan with Elias Khodri and Reid Fisher.

In the 83rd minute, Revolution II defender Gabe Dahlin was issued a yellow card for a foul on Daniel Stampatori.

One minute later, New England added to its lead.

Following a combination between Makai Wells and Cristiano Oliveira, the ball was played into the path of Damario McIntosh, who fired his effort from the center of the box into the bottom-right corner of the net to extend New England’s lead to 3-1.

In the 90th minute, Revolution II head coach Pablo Moreira made his only change of the match, replacing Gabe Dahlin with Chris Mbai-Assem.

Following 90 minutes and four minutes of second-half stoppage time, the final whistle sounded as New England Revolution II secured a 3-1 victory over Toronto FC II.

With the victory, head coach Pablo Moreira and New England Revolution II (12-7-8, 46 pts.) officially secured a spot in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs, extending their season into the postseason.
