Red Bull New York returned to action facing Atlanta United at the Mercedes-Benz stadium. The Red Bulls suffered defeat this time out however, with Atlanta staging a comeback to come out 2-1 winners.
Emil Forsberg opened the scoring early with a lovely cushioned touch and finishing off, from an intricate pass by Adri Mehmeti just five minutes into proceedings.
Michael Bradley’s side went into the break with the lead and Emil Forsberg came close to doubling his teams lead shortly after the opener.

The Red Bulls started off the second 45 positively but the longer it went on, Atlanta grew into the game and went close through Miguel Almiron who dragged his one vs one effort just wide.
With 69 minutes on the clock, Tristan Muyumba netted an exquisite effort, curling a right footed shot into the top right corner from just outside the area, leaving Ethan Horvath with no chance.
Michael Bradley was quick to make four changes just a few minutes later, and Atlanta kept knocking on the door.
Eventually they found their second when Fabrice Picault was left unmarked at the back post and headed in from Miguel Almiron’s cross.
Red Bulls tried to find a leveller but were ultimately unsuccessful, Julian Hall went closest but Lucas Hoyos got down to deny him, Atalanta were able to secure the three points.
RBNY will now undertake three consecutive home matches, and will next face Nashville SC on Wednesday, August 19.
