USA 4-1 Paraguay

INGLEWOOD, CA–Paraguay struggled mightily in its World Cup debut, after a disappointing 4-1 defeat. Folarin Balogun shone for the opposing team, scoring two goals. Looking ahead, Paraguay hopes to improve its situation in the upcoming matches against Türkiye and Australia.

It was virtually all Team USA as Damian Bobadilla scored an own goal in the 7th minute, and Giovanni Reyna scored in the 90+8 minute, delivering the fourth goal of the evening and sealing the win.

Brazilian-born Mauricio Magalhes Prado scored a consolation goal in the 73rd minute to leave the final score at 4-1.

Despite the loss, the Paraguayan team performed better in the second half and must now swiftly shift its focus to the next group match against Türkiye on Friday in Santa Clara (8pm PT, Fox/Telemundo). The team aims to bounce back and keep its hopes of advancing to the 2026 World Cup alive.
