Gotham break duck to get home win over Bay FC

Gotham FC 3-0 Bay FC

HARRISON, NJ–After failing to score a goal, let alone win a match, at home; Gotham FC finally did both at Sports Illustrated Stadium with an emphatic 3-0 win over Bay FC. It is just Gotham’s second win of the season overall after an opening win at Boston.

Gotham went on an onslaught at Jordan Silkowitz’s from the start of the match. Gotham finally breached the net in the 20th minute thanks to comic capers by the Bay defense after Savannah McCaskill’s shot was badly misplayed by the former and end up an own goal for Karlie Lema.

Twenty minutes later, Gotham doubled their advantage as Jordynn Dudley found a criminally unmarked Rose Lavelle in front of the six-yard box for an easy finish if not the cleanest touch. Lavelle would then draw a penalty just before halftime that Esther would convert to make it 3-0.

It was all Gotham on this day as they outshot Bay, 25-3, and 14-1 in shots on target. Possession was 59-41 in Cotham’s favor as well.

Gotham travel to Evanston on Wednesday night to play Chicago Stars (8pm ET, Victory+). Bay next play next Sunday at San Diego Wave (4pm PT, Victory+).
