Rhode Island FC sign free agent goalkeeper Jacob Castro

PAWTUCKET, RI– Free Agent goalkeeper Jacob Castro has signed for Rhode Island FC.

He will occupy a senior roster slot.

Jacob Castro is a 26-year-old, 6’4, 190lb, goalkeeper from Tukwila, Washington.

At the club level, Castro has played 51 career games (4,575 minutes) in the United States. Castro began his career with Seattle Sounders FC Academy (2017-18). During this time, he made a handful of appearances for USL side Seattle Sounders 2 (2018). Castro then had a 2-year collegiate career at the University of Washington (2019-21). He then transferred to San Diego State (2021-22).  Castro then signed for Seattle Sounders FC (2023-25). He was loaned immediately to MLS NEXT Pro side Tacoma Defiance (2023-25). Rhode Island FC will be his third professional club.

In total club numbers, the goalkeeper has 152 total saves, 106 total goals conceded, a 0.648% save percentage, an 81.3% pass accuracy percentage & has posted 7 clean sheets.

Internationally, Goalkeeper has never appeared for his national team. He can represent the United States.

Jacob Castro is announced as a new player signing for Rhode Island FC.

In the early morning on Tuesday, January 13th, Rhode Island FC announced the signing of Scardina for the 2026 season pending league and federation approval.

He joins a talented Rhode Island FC goalkeeping group that features Will Meyer & Koke Vegas.
