Langoni, Fofana & Miller goals lead New England to 3-0 victory over CF Montréal

FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution (2-0-3, 6 pts.) were victorious 3-0 versus CF Montréal (1-1-4, 4 pts) on Saturday night.

The match kicked off at 4:30 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium to a crowd of 19,461.

The match kicked off with CF Montréal starting from the center circle as they elected to launch the ball into New England’s defensive third to begin the match.

Entering the 7th minute, New England took the lead

Following a delivery into the area by defender Ilay Feingold, the ball fell kindly for Dor Turgeman, who then took a shot that was saved by goalkeeper Thomas Gillier and fell to a wide-open Luca Langoni for the tap-in finish to take the 1-0 lead.

Efraín Morales had the first chance for CF Montreal in the 12th minute when his headed effort towards goal just missed.

Dor Turgeman had an amazing chance for New England in the 16th minute when Luca Langoni found him in space and he managed to strike the post.

In the 28th minute, Revolution midfielder Brooklyn Raines was issued a yellow card for a dangerous foul.

Brandan Craig had the next chance for CF Montreal in the 33rd minute when his headed chance was saved and cleared.

Just one minute later, Revolution defender Will Sands was issued a yellow card for a dangerous foul. Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović was then issued a red card for dissent. Assistant Coach Michael Morris will takeover for the remainder of the match.

In the 40th minute, Revolution assistant coach Michael Morris was forced to make his first change by replacing Matt Polster with Alhassan Yusuf.

Dagur Thórhallsson then had a chance just a moment later that missed the mark by less than a yard.

After the initial 45+6 minutes, the match entered halftime with New England ahead 1-0.

Prior to the start of the second half, CF Montréal head coach Marco Donadel made his first change of the match by replacing midfielder Dagur Dan Þórhallsson with midfielder Hennadiy Synchuk

The second half began with New England starting from the center circle as they elected to quickly advance the ball into CF Montréal’s defensive third.

In the 53rd minute, CF Montréal midfielder Hennadiy Synchuk was issued a yellow card for a harsh foul on forward Dor Turgeman.

Carles Gil had the first massive chance just one minute later when he drove down the center of the pitch and took a shot that was saved by goalkeeper Thomas Gillier.

CF Montréal had a massive chance in the –th minute when Dawid Bugaj’s effort towards goal struck the crossbar.

In the 62nd minute, Revolution assistant coach Michael Morris made his second change of the match by replacing Griffin Yow with Peyton Miller.

Just two minutes later, in the 64th minute, CF Montréal midfielder Wikelman Carmona was issued a yellow card.

Prince Owusu had a chance for CF Montréal in the 70th minute when he cut inside the box and unleashed a left footed shot that went high over the bar.

Entering the 76th minute, New England added to their lead.

Following a freekick delivery into the area by midfielder Luca Langoni, the ball was buried into the back of the net by defender Mamadou Fofanan to make it 2-0 to New England.

Following the goal, CF Montréal head coach Marco Donadel made another change by replacing Brandon Craig & Wikelman Carmona with Olger Escobar & Noah Streit.

In the 82nd minute, Revolution assistant coach Michael Morris made his third change of the match by replacing Luca Langoni with Jackson Yueill.

Matt Turner made an unbelievable diving save in the 87th minute when a free kick chance by Iván Jaime was heading into to the top corner and was blocked away for a corner kick.

Matty Longstaff had a massive chance just one minute later when his left footed shot inside the area just missed the inside of the left post by less than a yard.

Entering the 90+3 minute, New England added to their lead.

Midfielder Jackson Yueill found defender Peyton Miller on a breakaway that then led to a chip over goalkeeper Thomas Gillier to make it 3-0

After the 90+3 minutes, the match concluded with New England holding on for the 3-0 victory.

Marko Mitrović and the New England Revolution (1-0-3, 3 pts.) remain home to face Eastern Conference side D.C. United (2-1-2, 7 pts). The match is set to kickoff at Gillette Stadium Park on Saturday, April 11th at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
