Gotham could not break down Royals in goalless draw

Gotham FC 0-0 Utah Royals

HARRISON, NJ–Despite outshooting Utah, 18-5, and 7-1 on goal; Gotham FC could not break down bottom-side Utah Royals as the match ended in a goalless draw. Gotham remain eighth only on goal difference against ninth-place North Carolina while Utah remain bottom by two points having yet to win on the road this season (0-5-3).

Utah actually had the best shot of the first have in stoppage time. With Gotham failing to clear lines following a set piece, Mina Tanaka would shoot one off the crossbar and Kate del Fava would be off target on the rebound.

Gotham’s Katie Stengel had a chance in the second half that forced a diving save by Mandy McGlynn. Defense did the rest for the Royals who kept Ester, Geyse, and Rose Lavelle at bay to hold on for the clean sheet. Gotham have yet to win since the international break in July (0-1-3).

Gotham next play on Friday to host Orlando (8pm ET, Prime). Utah go to Portland on Saturday (8:30pm MT, Paramount+).
