Carles Gil named to MLS Team of the Matchday 28

FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution midfielder Carles Gil has made the MLS Team of the Matchday 28 following Saturday night’s 2-0 win over D.C. United.

This is Carles Gil’s seventh appearance in MLS Team of the Week this season. He previously featured in Matchday 6, Matchday 8, Matchday 10, Matchday 11, Matchday 12 & Matchday 21.

Carles Gil obtained a position in the MLS Team of the Matchday 28 for his immaculate performance on Saturday afternoon. Gil, who played 90 minutes finished the match with an 8.8 rating according to Fotmob. Offensively, Carles had 1 goal on 3 shot attempts (75% shot accuracy) & 1 assist. Gil had 73 touches and 13 passes into the final third. The midfielder went 46/55 (84%) on accurate passes throughout the match with 6/7 accuracy on long balls (86%) and 3/6 (50%) on accurate crosses. He went 1/4 (25%) on successful dribbles and was dispossessed 0 times during the match with 4 chances created. He also took 3 corners during the match. Gil defensively went 4/8 (50%) on tackles won had zero aerial duels.  He was fouled 3 times and committed 0 fouls during the match.

Caleb Porter and New England Revolution (7-7-11, 28 pts.) remain home to face off against Western Conference side Los Angeles FC (10-7-6, 37 pts). The match is set to kickoff at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, August 16th at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
