Portland Timbers Briefly

Two players were named to the MLS Team of the Matchday: David Ayala and newcomer Kevin Kelsy, who excelled with a brace against a struggling Sporting Kansas City that has faced difficulties throughout 2025.

As the team is now establishing its identity, the defensive backfield has been shining in every game, creating a defensive nightmare for opposing strikers who are unable to penetrate it. They are looking to excel in 2025.

The return of Jonathan Rodriguez to the lineup is viewed as a boost for the Timbers, as he can contribute significantly on both the offensive and defensive ends.

As the pieces of the puzzle begin to come together and players return to the starting lineup, one question remains: Who will be the starting eleven for the Portland Timbers under manager Phil Neville? He will need to address several important questions as he finalizes his lineup.

Currently, this team is performing like a well-oiled machine, seeking more victories and possibly making a push for the Supporters’ Shield.

Ultimately, this team aims to extend its winning streak while staying focused and actively seeking opportunities to remain on the right track. Although there are many challenges ahead, overcoming them can lead to promising results.

LAFC Briefly

Manager Steve Cherundolo is frustrated, as his team has lost four matches without a single draw. Despite having many talented players, they have struggled to perform in crucial games.

The team that once featured Carlos Vela has not performed up to its usual standard in every match. They are missing the spark that Vela consistently brought to the game, as he always put in his best effort, often giving 150% in each match.

LAFC has become a constant challenge for the Portland Timbers, as since they entered into Major League Soccer, the Black and Gold have maintained dominance over the Rose City team.

The Timbers have been in excellent form and are eager to secure a win at home, where it truly matters. On the other hand, the Black and Gold have not performed as well as in previous seasons, but they still have the potential to put up a good fight.
