When the Portland Timbers visited Austin FC at Q2 Stadium, they played some of their best football against one of the hottest teams in Major League Soccer. Despite this, the Timbers couldn’t capitalize and score a goal. In the end, the 0-0 draw was a welcome outcome for the Green and Gold.

The Portland Timbers, with a record of 3 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses (11 points), faced a rejuvenated Austin FC, who have a record of 4 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss (13 points), resulting in a shared outcome at Austin’s Q2 Stadium. The Timbers began a challenging stretch of four consecutive away games.

James Pantemis, the goalkeeper for the Timbers, recorded his third clean sheet of the season for Portland. Meanwhile, Austin’s Brad Stuver had a standout performance, stopping and blocking five of Portland’s shots on goal, which extended Austin’s streak to four matches without conceding a goal.

Both teams played a very conservative style of soccer during the Saturday afternoon match, focusing on maintaining high possession while avoiding high-risk tactics. Austin had several opportunities in the first 10 minutes, but these chances were nearly capitalized upon when a turnover occurred outside the penalty area. Fortunately, David Ayala made a heroic save in the 25th minute to keep the score level.

In the 33rd minute, David Da Costa nearly had a chance to score, and Mora’s attempt at goal was stopped by Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver before the end of the first half. Portland had its opportunities with Santiago Moreno and Juan Mosquera both inside the area, but Stuver was up to the task and made the crucial saves.

Pantemis made a crucial left-hand save to deny a header from Brandon Vazquez, helping the Timbers maintain their position in the match. In conclusion, Portland has conceded only four goals in its recent matches. The club achieved its second shutout on the road.
