The session was almost immediately red flagged after Marcus Armstrong crashed on the entry to Acqua Minerale ripping the front wing off his car and beaching it into the gravel trap.
After the session was restarted with 16 minutes to go, every car was out on track for a session with so much yet to learn with such little time to do so.
Juri Vips was the first driver to get up to speed setting purple sectors all around on the first flying lap after the red flag just before Logan Sergeant span out of the last Rivazza causing another red flag only four minutes after the last still leaving many drivers without a lap completed.
The extended red flag only meant that the drivers got four minutes worth of running at the end of the session.
Ralph Boschung was on the pace all session before getting both laps aborted due to the red flags.
The first lap at the end of the session put Boschung right to the top of the timesheet and then immediately span out of turn two into turn three bringing out another red flag which concluded the session.
Leaving himself three tenths ahead of Vips whilst usual front runners of Denis Hauger and Jack Doohan could not keep their car on the track on their final run leaving no representative times for the session.
There was next to no running with a maximum of five laps put together by a single driver in wet conditions to, with the rest of the weekend appearing to be dry so it is all up in the air to see who will be quick across the rest of the weekend as no representative running has taken place.
