Swansea sign Defreitas-Hansen on free transfer – fans react

USA youth international Nico Defreitas-Hansen has joined Swansea City on a free from Everton, subject to international clearance.

The 19-year-old Floridian will link up with the Under-23 setup in Abertawe, after signing a one-year contract with an option of a further 12 months.

He has represented the under-14, under-15 and under-16 sides in the States, but also qualifies for Denmark and Brazil.

In an adopted Scouse fashion, Defreitas-Hansen declared he was ‘made up’ with the move to SA1 on Social Media.

“Made up to be joining Swansea, excited and looking forward to this new chapter!”

Swansea fans had a lot to say on Twitter, with reaction largely positive despite the supposed ‘randomness’ of the signing.

Swansea travel to Ewood Park on the opening day of the season, with the Under-23 side’s matches yet to be released.
