Swansea City fixtures announced: All the key dates in the Swans’ season

The EFL have announced the scheduled fixtures for 2021/22 today.

Swansea City, like everyone else, eagerly awaited the release this morning after their Playoff final defeat by Brentford last month.

Ivan Toney and Emiliano Marcondes’ goals were enough to see the Bees promoted at the expense of Steve Cooper’s Swans – who lost in the semi-final to the same opponents in 2019/20.

Cooper will see his side travel to Ewood Park on the opening day to face Blackburn Rovers; A difficult start against a side potentially pushing for the Playoff places next season.

Fans’ will hopefully we back in full capacity a week later when they welcome relegated Sheffield United to the Liberty Stadium. Stoke, Bristol City and a visit to Preston North End conclude the opening month of the campaign.

The next relegated side to face is Fulham, who look increasingly likely to be without Bournemouth-bound Scott Parker next season.

Swansea then welcome their fierce rivals Cardiff to the Liberty after the international break in October for the first South Wales Derby of the season. West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham and Peterborough complete a tough-looking October.

Boxing Day sees a visit to the Den – a tough Christmas for Cooper and co. before hosting Luton three days later. They kick off the new year at home to Fulham.

The month of February looks crucial for the potential fortunes of the promotion candidates, including Swansea, as they face off against Sheffield United, Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion amongst others.

April begins with the second South Wales Derby at the Cardiff City Stadium, and concludes with a potentially tough visit to Chris Hughton’s Nottingham Forest.

Queens Park Rangers on May 7th closes the curtain on what could be a momentous season for Swansea – but without key players from last season, it will be interesting to see how it develops.
