Nottingham Forest have a future star in Brennan Johnson

Lincoln City defeated Burton Albion on Tuesday night with on-loan Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson playing a leading role.

Johnson joined the Imps at the beginning of the season on-loan from Nottingham Forest, and since his arrival he has thrived, helping Lincoln into the play-off places, a position they look set to cement come the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has registered ten goals and five assists this season but his overall play is what is most impressive about the youngster. Against Burton Albion, Johnson ran the show, his direct running and range of passing proved to be a handful for Burton and they struggled to contain him all game.

The attacking midfielder didn’t register a goal or assist in the game but he certainly had the most impact with near all of Lincoln’s good play going through him and he was unlucky not to have grabbed himself at least one goal on the night with crucial blocks from the Burton defenders to keep him at bay.

Lincoln struck their winner on the 27th minute through a different loanee, TJ Eyoma who headed home Tayo Edun’s cross as it found it’s way to the far post, leaving Ben Garratt in the Burton goal helpless.

Johnson is somebody who looks ready for Championship football and is somebody who Chris Hughton has already been monitoring closely with the Forest boss already stating he thought about recalling him back in January.

He could quite easily slip into the Championship side next season and solve the creative issues that they have encountered this season, his size, frame and quick thinking gives him the edge on a lot of players already amongst the Forest ranks and is somebody we should expect to make a name for himself next season.
