Edwards has been a shining light for Hampshire with the red ball, taking 40 wickets in ten County Championship matches this campaign. Despite being an integral figure in the longest form since arriving five-years ago, Hampshire are keen for the veteran to get some cricket during the T20 block of the season.
Edwards will return to the south coast for the resumption of the County Championship games in the middle of August.
Director of sport at Warwickshire and former England assistant Paul Farbrace said:
“Fidel is high class fast bowler, who has played international cricket across all three formats, and we’re very grateful to Hampshire for allowing him to come to Edgbaston at such short notice.
It’s well known that our seam bowling resources have been stretched in recent weeks, but the addition of Fidel bolsters our attack as we enter this important opening weekend of the Vitality Blast.”
Edwards averages 31.06 with the ball in International T20’s, picking up 16 wickets in his 20 appearances for the West Indies.
