Chelsea have been banned from signing players for two transfer windows after they were found guilty of breaching FIFA regulations over signing minors.
The club were also found guilty of twice breaching regulations relating to third-party influence.
The Blues have also been fined around £460,000 for their actions. The Football Association has also been slapped with a fine of £390,000.
Chelsea breached article 19 of the regulations which related to the transfer of players under 18. The club were found guilty of violating this rule on 29 occasions.
The club will be allowed to sell players but will be forbidden from registering any new signings until the summer of 2020.
A statement released by FIFA said:
“This ban applies to the club as a whole – with the exception of women’s and futsal teams – and does not prevent the release of players.”
Chelsea now have 90 days to rectify the situation in regards to the players signed. One of the more controversial acquisitions was that of Bertrand Traore in 2013.
