Tottenham and England star Kane out till March

Harry Kane will be out till early March with ankle ligament damage according to a statement released from Tottenham this afternoon.

The striker sustained the injury late on in Spurs’ defeat against Manchester United, staying on the pitch after the final whistle to receive treatment after a heavy challenge from England teammate Phil Jones.

The 2018 World Cup Golden Boot winner has netted 14 Premier League goals so far this campaign, joint-top of the rankings with Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah.

The injury comes as a huge blow to the north London side, who will also miss Heung Min-Son this month as he travels to play in the Asian Games for South Korea.

England’s captain will now potentially miss six Premier League games, a Champions League round of 16 first leg against Borussia Dortmund and the Carabao Cup semi final second leg against Chelsea, with the addition of the final should Spurs reach that stage.

Spurs’ statement read as follows:

It remains to be seen whether this latest development will force the Lilywhites to act in the transfer window, with Fernando Llorente now currently their only option up front.

The team currently 3rd in the Premier League will be desperate to have Kane back as soon as possible and may target the north London derby on March 2nd as the ideal time for the strikers return.
