Tottenham aim to continue title charge at the expense of Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur could move to within three points of the top of the table with victory over Wolves this weekend and continue their unexpected title challenge into 2019.

Spurs come into this game on the back of four consecutive Premier League wins and a comprehensive 5-0 win over Bournemouth, in which Son Heung-Min continued his fine scoring form, with four goals in his last two games.

Wolves meanwhile, hope to consolidate their place in mid-table. A solid first season in which they continue to stamp their authority and grow their identity under Nuno Esprito Santo, although their recent 1-1 draw with Fulham proved that on occasion a clinical finisher is lacking in the squad.

Wolves do boast the best defence outside of the top six this season. Willy Boly and Conor Coady have marshalled the backline fantastically, conceding just 22 goals. They will need to be at the top of their game to stop a Tottenham side who have scored 11 goals in their last two outings.

Mauricio Pochettino has a large injury list to contend with, Dele Alli is suffering from a knock and will be evaluated by a late fitness test. Whilst Eric Dier, Moussa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen, Serge Aurier and Victor Wanyama all miss the game through injury.

Santo has a much smaller list of injury worries with Diogo Jota suffering a hamstring problem and Leander Dedoncker also struggling with a viral infection. The Wolves squad is strong and capable of rotation through this fixture pileup around the New Year.

The last nine meetings between these sides has never offered a goalless draw, couple that with the form of both sides and an entertaining game is on the cards for those at Wembley this weekend. Tottenham are the only side in the Premier League not to draw a game this season, winning 15 and losing four of their 19 so far.

Prediction: Tottenham 3-0 Wolves
