Tottenham and Liverpool will both have to wait until Matchday six to find out their European fates.

Spurs needed to beat Inter Milan to retain any hope of qualification after a poor start in the competition. Danish superstar Christian Eriksen came off the bench to score that much needed late winner at Wembley. The result keeps their slim hopes of reaching the Champions League knockout stages alive going into their final game at the Nou Camp when they face Barcelona.

Harry Winks had hit the crossbar and Jan Vertonghen put a header wide but it took Eriksen’s arrival to make the crucial breakthrough after good work by the born again Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli to set up a far post header with 10 minutes left.

Meanwhile, just down the Eurostar in Paris, Liverpool sank to a 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain with all the goals coming in the first half.

Juan Bernat and Neymar put the home side 2-0 up before James Milner converted a penalty just before half-time

The Reds are now are third in Group C and need to beat first-place Napoli at Anfield 1-0 or by two goals or more. A 2-1 loss would put Napoli through. However any win will put Jurgen Klopp’s men through in the unlikely event of Red Star beating PSG.
