Gotham open home schedule with goalless draw

Gotham FC 0-0 North Carolina Courage

HARRISON, NJ–Defending champion Gotham FC began their home slate with a goalless draw against North Carolina Courage before 10,796 at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Both teams are now 1-0-1 in this young season.

Both teams combined for 23 shots, but only four ended up on target with three of them belonging to the Courage. Esther was wide of target early in the seventh minute for the hosts. Rose Lavelle nearly opened the second half with a goal, but the headed opportunity fell to Kailen Sheridan. Substitutes Evelyn Ijeh and Sydney Schmidt came closest for the Courage in the second half.

However, neither team would find the net and the points were shared. Gotham remain home on Wednesday when they face Denver Summit. Kickoff is at 7pm ET on Victory+. North Carolina next play next Saturday hosting Bay FC (7pm ET, NWSL+).
