Inter Miami 1-1 Nashville SC (1-1 aggregate, Nashville SC advance on away goals)

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL–The good news was that Lionel Messi scored his 900th professional goal. The bad news was that the away goal rule still exists in the Concacaf Champions Cup and Nashville SC got that away goal to advance to the CCC quarterfinals at the Herons’ expense.

Messi’s goal came in the 7th minute after receiving a pass from Sergio Reguilôn in the area. It was Messi’s 900th professional goal in his career. However, Nashville was undeterred and they would net that all important away goal in the 74th minute.

Cristian Espinoza sent a pass to Alex Muyl whose shot took a deflection into the air and almost underneath the bar. Dayne St. Clair parried the away, but it went right to the feet of Espinoza who finished the rebound. The Coyotes now move on to play Club America in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami return to league play and back on the road as they take on New York City FC on Sunday at 1pm ET on Apple TV from Yankee Stadium.
