SIX Unanswered Goals Lift Revolution to First Win of Season, 6-1 Over FC Cincinnati

FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution (1-0-2, 3 pts.) were victorious 6-1 versus FC Cincinnati (1-0-3, 3 pts.) on Saturday evening.

The match kicked off at 2:30 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium to a crowd of 15,500.

The match kicked off with New England starting from the center circle and electing to keep possession to begin the match.

FC Cincinnati had the first chance of the match in the 5th minute when a freekick shot by midfielder Evander was saved in the center of the goal by Matt Turner.

Evander had yet another opportunity in the 11th minute when he nut-megged midfielder Matt Polster and had a close-range shot blocked away by goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Carles Gil had the first chance for New England in the 14th minute when he was found at the top of the box for a one-time shot, however, it snuck wide of the net.

In the 16th minute, Revolution midfielder Luca Langoni was issued a yellow card for thwarting an FC Cincinnati counterattack.

Entering the 19th minute, FC Cincinnati took the lead.

Midfielder Gerardo Valenzuela drove down the middle of the par and sent a low driven right footed shot into the bottom right corner past goalkeeper Matt Turner to take the 1-0 lead.

In the 23rd minute, FC Cincinnati midfielder Brian Ramirez was issued a yellow card for a harsh foul on midfielder Carles Gil.

Entering the 25th minute, New England leveled the scoreline.

Following a freekick delivery into the area by Ilay Feingold, the ball was headed home by defender Brayan Ceballos to level the scoreline at 1-1.

In the 28th minute, Revolution defender Brayan Ceballos was issued a yellow card for a questionable foul near midfield.

New England’s next chance came in the 30th minute when a service into the area by Carles Gil was just missed by Alhassan Yusuf.

Entering the 31st minute, New England took the lead.

Defender Ilay Feingold found midfielder Luca Langoni who then sent a ball into the area to find the head of forward Dor Turgeman to make it 2-1.

New England had yet another chance in the 33rd minute when a back-post delivery found the head of Will Sands but unfortunately snuck wide of the net.

In the 37th minute, FC Cincinnati forward Ayoub Jabbari was issued a yellow card for fouling forward Dor Turgeman.

FC Cincinnati had the next massive chance in the 41st minute when forward Ayoub Jabbari dropped defender Brayan Ceballos and had a close-range shot that was saved by goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Midfielder Carles Gil had a massive chance in the 45+2 minute when his left-footed effort was saved in the bottom corner by goalkeeper Roman Celentano and out for a corner kick.

Entering the 45+2 minute, New England added to their lead.

Following a corner kick delivery into the area by midfielder Luca Langoni, defender Brayan Ceballos headed the ball home for his second goal of the match.

After the initial 45+5 minutes, the match entered halftime with New England ahead 3-1.

Prior to the start of the second half, FC Cincinnati head coach Pat Noonan made his first three changes of the match by replacing Obinna Nwobodo, Ayoub Jabbari, & Bryan Ramirez with Kevin Denkey, Tom Barlow, & Ender Echenique.

The second half began with FC Cincinnati kicking off from the center circle and electing to launch the ball into New England’s defensive third.

New England had multiple chances in the 50th minute with shots by Dor Turgeman, Matt Polster, & Alhassan Yusuf that were eventually cleared away.

FC Cincinnati’s first chance of the half came in the 51st minute when a service into the area by midfielder Evander found the head of Nick Hagglund and then was punched away by goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Entering the 53rd minute, New England added to their lead.

Following a delivery into the area by Carles Gil, the ball was headed home by Alhassan Yusuf to make it 4-1 to New England.

In the 60th minute, Revolution midfielder Matt Polster was issued a yellow card for a foul on midfielder Evander.

Just one minute later, FC Cincinnati head coach Pat Noonan made his fourth change of the match by replacing defender Miles Robinson with defender Matt Miazga.

New England had a chance in the 65th minute when Ilay Feingold played a cut-back pass into the box, however, a plethora of players were too casual and the ball was eventually cleared.

FC Cincinnati had a chance just two minutes later when a corner kick delivery was headed towards goal but snuck just wide of the net.

In the 69th minute, FC Cincinnati midfielder Gerardo Valenzuela was issued a straight red card for a harsh foul on defender Ilay Feingold.

Following the foul, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his first two changes of the match by replacing -winger Luca Langoni & defender Ilay Feingold with winger Griffin Yow & defender Ethan Kohler.

FC Cincinnati had a massive chance in the 74th minute when a chip attempt by forward Tom Barlow was cleared off the line by defender Mamadou Fofana.

In the 81st minute, FC Cincinnati head coach Pat Noonan made his fifth and final change of the match by replacing defender Kyle Smith with defender Alvas Powell.

Griffin Yow had a massive chance in the 85th minute when his right-footed effort snuck just wide of the left post.

Following the shot, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his third change of the match by replacing midfielder Matt Polster with defender Peyton Miller.

Entering the 86th minute, New England added to their lead.

Following multiple chances towards goal, the ball fell to the back post for a simple finish by winger Griffin Yow to give New England the 5-1 lead.

Following the goal, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his fourth and fifth change of the match by replacing midfielders Carles Gil & Alhassan Yusuf with midfielders Diego Fagundez & Jackson Yueill.

Entering the 89th minute, New England added to their lead.

Midfielder Diego Fagundez found forward Dor Turgeman who then found winger Peyton Miller who blasted the ball home to make it 6-1 to New England.

FC Cincinnati had another chance in the 90+1 minute when a service into the area was chested by Kevin Denkey towards goal and was saved by goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Just 3 minutes later, FC Cincinnati had yet another opportunity that was saved away by goalkeeper Matt Turner.

After the 90+7 minutes, the match concluded with New England holding on for the 6-1 victory.
