New England Revolution acquire USYNT U20 midfielder Brooklyn Raines in cash trade with Houston Dynamo FC

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution are acquiring midfielder Brooklyn Raines via cash trade with Houston Dynamo FC for $1,600,000 + $400,000 in add-ons. Houston will retain a future sell-on-clause.

Raines will join New England via the U22 initiative & will occupy a senior roster slot.

Brooklyn Raines is a 20-year-old, 5’8, 139lb midfielder from Monrovia, Liberia.

At the club level, Raines has played 101 career games (5,979 minutes) across the United States. Raines began his career with USL Championship side El Paso Locomotive (2021). The following year, Raines joined Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo FC (2022-2025). The Dynamo acquired Raines’ rights from Real Salt Lake in exchange for $50,000 in GAM.

Internationally, Raines has made 24 youth appearances (1,450 minutes) for the United States Youth National Team for the U19s, U20s, & U23s.

In total career club numbers, the midfielder has contributed 2 career goals, 7 assists, along with 22 yellow cards and 2 red cards.

In total career international numbers, the midfielder has contributed 2 career goals, 1 assist, along with 4 yellow cards.

In November, Tom Bogert of The Athletic had reported that Raines was attracting interest from Juventus FC & City Football Group (City Football Group owns numerous European clubs, led by Manchester City. CFG also controls Girona, Palermo, Troyes and Lommel, along with MLS’s New York City FC.)

No official offers were submitted to Houston Dynamo FC for Raines; however, multiple conversations took place.

Raines, 20, will remain in MLS & instead will re-unite with his former United States Youth National Team head coach Marko Mitrović.

The young midfielder was a member of Mitrović’s 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup side. He also was the captain of the U21 National Team in November under newly signed Revolution assistant coach Michael Morris.

During the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup, Raines scored 1 goal (against France in the Group Stage) & played in 5 matches (350+ minutes).

In the tournament, the United States faced New Caledonia, France, South Africa in the group stages, Italy in the Round of 16 & Morocco in the Quarterfinals.

Raines joins a New England Revolution midfielder group that features DP Carles Gil, Alhassan Yusuf (Nigeria MNT), Allan Oyirwoth (Uganda MNT), Matt Polster, Jackson Yueill, & Jack Panayotou.
