FCD in playoff position following defeat of Rapids

FC Dallas 3-1 Colorado Rapids

FRISCO, TX–FC Dallas have moved into the ninth and final playoff spot following their 3-1 victory over Colorado Rapids at Toyota Stadium. FCD are now unbeaten in their last six matches while the Rapids have lost three of their last four and are just two points clear of FCD in eighth and three points clear of ninth-place Houston in tenth.

FC Dallas got the opening score in the 14th minute as Logan Farrington sent a cross in front of goal and Petar Musa would head in from six yards out. Calvin Harris would equalizer for the Rapids seven minutes later from just outside the area past a shielded Jacob Jackson.

FCD’s lead was restored in the 36th minute after Christian Cappis deflected a cross past Zack Steffen to make it 2-1. Steffen would redeem himself with a save on Musa in the 70th minute as the latter was in alone on goal. Bernard Kamungo had an effort blocked off the line by Andreas Maxso. However, Dallas would get that third goal as Maxso would accidentally knock in Pedrinho’s low cross ten minutes from time.

FCD travels to Portland next Saturday (9:30pm CT, Apple TV) while Colorado hosts Minnesota United (7:30pm MT, Apple TV).
