FC Dallas 2-0 Portland Timbers

FRISCO, TX–FC Dallas netted an important victory as they try to make the playoffs with a 2-0 win over Portland Timbers. The win moved FCD to 11th place in the Western Conference and three points behind ninth-place Real Salt Lake who play Sunday against New York Red Bulls. The Timbers fall to sixth in the West, though seven points clear of tenth-place Colorado.

FC Dallas got the lead in the eighth minute on some good fortune (or bad fortune if you happen to be a Timbers fan). Lalas Abubakar’s long ball was fumbled in the box by Maxime Crepeau and Petar Musa was there to pounce on the gift and score in the empty net.

Abubakar would get a goal of his own in the 62nd minute. He headed in a corner kick from Sebastian Llegett. Michael Collodi got three saves in maintaining a clean sheet.

Next up for FC Dallas is a Texas Cup match against Austin FC at the Q2 Stadium on Saturday (7:30pm CT, Apple TV). Portland will host FC Cincinnati on Saturday (7:30pm PT, Apple TV).
