Seattle Sounders FC 2-0 Austin FC

SEATTLE, WA–Seattle Sounders FC returned to league play on Saturday and returned to the win column for the first time since May 28th with a 2-0 decision over Austin FC. The win moves the Sounders up to fifth in the Western Conference table.

The Sounders went ahead just before halftime as Jesus Ferreira got on the end of a Paul Rothrock cross scoring on the volley. The lead was doubled in the 54th minute when Ferreira passed to Danny Musovsky who made a run towards the box and beat Brad Stuver far post.

It was not all good news for the Sounders as Reed Baker-Whiting was sent off for a second yellow card in the 89th minute. It is the Sounders’ third red card in their last two league games. Baker-Whiting will miss the Sounders’ next match which will be next Sunday against Columbus at Lumen Field. Kickoff is at 2pm PT on Apple TV.
