Tacoma Defiance 1-1 Minnesota United 2 (Defiance win 4-3 on penalties)
TUKWILA, WA–Tacoma Defiance had to come from behind and then defeat Minnesota United on penalties to get the win to keep in the top six of the Western Conference in MLS NEXT Pro play. The Loons went up in the 71st minute as Luke Hille chipped keeper Jacob Castro. Damian Alvarez equalized for the Defiance heading in a free kick from Peter Kingston in the 83rd minute. It went to spot kicks and Alvarez would score the decisive penalty in the fifth round after Devin Padelford had his spot kick saved.
The Defiance next play on Wednesday, June 11th, when they travel to Real Monarchs of Salt Lake (6:30pm PT, Apple TV).
