Seattle Sounders FC 3-0 Nashville SC

SEATTLE, WA–Three is a magic number for the Sounders as they defeated Nashville, 3-0, at Lumen Field and go to 3-3-3 for the season. It is the first win for the Sounders over Nashville after not winning the previous three attempts.

The scoring opened in the 19th minute as Paul Rothrock sent a ball into the box. Jesus Ferreira then set up Danny Musovski for the goal that was initially ruled offside, but VAR confirmed it was a good goal. At the half hour mark, Cristian Roldan stripped a ball in the attacking third and found Obed Vargas who then sent it back to Pedro de la Vega to make it 2-0 to the hosts. Four minutes later, Ferreira found Rothrock unmarked in the box and beat Joe Willis far post.

Nashville had eight shots on target, but that belied their expected goals on the evening which was 1.3. Still, it’s back-to-back wins and clean sheets for the Sounders following a five-match winless streak. They will go for a third successive win at Colorado next Saturday (6:30pm PT, Apple TV). Nashville, now sixth in the West after losing three of their last four, will host Chicago on Saturday (7:30pm CT, Apple TV).
