Canada Women 3-0 Argentina Women
VANCOUVER, BC–Exciting times for women’s soccer in Canada. The Northern Super League gets underway on April 16th, and the Canadian Women’s National Team are playing a pair of friendlies in British Columbia in the lead up. The first match on Friday at BC Place was a 3-0 win for Canada against Argentina.
Canada struck first in the 24th minute as Vanessa Giles headed from a Adriana Leon free kick which was saved by Argentine keeper Solana Pereyra, but allowed a rebound and tap-in for Jade Rose to get her first international goal.
Fifteen minutes later, Leon sent a low cross across the face of goal and Nichelle Prince had an initial shot stopped by Pereyra, but Prince would make good on the rebound to put Canada 2-0 up.

Canada’s third goal three minutes from time was also off a rebound. Argentina’s attempts to play a ball out of the back led to a Janine Sonis shot off the goal post and then put in by Chicago Stars midfielder Julia Grosso.
The two sides will meed again for a friendly at Starlight Stadium in Langford, BC on Tuesday (7pm PT, OneSoccer).
