Tacoma Defiance 2-1 Spokane Velocity (aet)
TUKWILA, WA–The Tacoma Defiance of MLS NEXT Pro defeated Spokane Velocity of USL League One, 2-1 on Wednesday night at Starfire Stadium in the Second Round of the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Joonmo Kang opened the scoring for Defiance in the third minute of the match, with Spokane’s Luis Gil leveling the match late in regulation, sending the game to extra time. In extra time, Edson Carli put in the match winner in the 100th minute.
Tacoma now host Oakland Roots of the USL Championship on Tuesday, April 15th at Starfire at 7:30pm PT (Paramoubt+). Before that, the Defiance host Whitecaps FC 2 on Sunday at 7pm PT (Apple TV).
