Galaxy finally get a win in 2025 vs Herediano

It took a while, but the Los Angeles Galaxy are off the mat in 2025.

After four total matches with four losses and one goal to show, the Galaxy finally righted the ship on Wednesday night. Facing a one-goal deficit on aggregate as they prepared to host the final leg of its Round of 16 matchup with CS Herediano, the Galaxy finally caught fire and never looked back. Four different Galaxy players found the back net on Wednesday night, and the Galaxy overcame its aggregate deficit and advanced in the CONCACAF Champions Cup with a 4-1 win at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Julian Aude, Miguel Berry, Gabriel Pec and Christian Ramirez tallied goals for the Galaxy, and Isaiah Parente had two helpers. The Galaxy advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament, where waiting for them will be Liga Mx side Tigres UNAL.

The Galaxy had to wait to get going in the match, but once it did, it got going very fast. The Galaxy opened the scoring in the 30th minute, as Parente sent a ball into the penalty area and Aude one-timed a left-footed volley that got past keeper Dani Carbajal, bounced off the inner part of the far post and went into the back net to t give the Galaxy the lead in the match and most importantly, tie the aggregate score. The Galaxy pushed ahead on aggregate eight minutes later, as Tucker Lepley switched a ball over the six-yard box, the ball went to Parente, who then played a ball into the six to the feet of Berry, who tapped in the point-blank shot into the open net, and Herediano’s plea for an offside call went unabated, and the Galaxy went into halftime with a two-goal lead.

The Galaxy blew the game, and with it the series, open in the  second half. The Galaxy got a third goal in the 53rd minute, as Harbor Miller dribbled down the left side into the penalty area, Miller played a ball to the center lane, where Pec swooped in and buried the one-timer past Carbajal into the back net. Ramirez netted the Galaxy’s fourth goal in the 76th minute, as Pec sprung Emil Garces down the left side, Garces crossed into the penalty area and Ramirez slotted the shot inside the six past Carbajal near post. Herediano did pull a goal back when Jose Gonzalez tallied in the 83rd minute, but eventually the Galaxy were able to hold on.

The Galaxy will next try for its first league win, as they head to Portland for a Sunday showdown with the Timbers.
