Colorado Rapids 1-4 LA Galaxy (Galaxy win series 2-0)

COMMERCE CITY, CO–The Rapids’ season came to an end on Friday as LA Galaxy dismissed them, 4-1, and swept their Western Conference Quarterfinals. It’s now seven straight wins for LA Galaxy from the regular season while the Rapids finish losing six straight and outscored 9-1 in this series.

Things got off to an inauspicious start for the Rapids as an attempted Zack Steffen clearance deflected off Gabriel Pec and into an empty net. The Rapids did have a glimmer of hope in the 19th minute as Oliver Larraz scored from outside the area to make the score 1-1. That would be all the good fortune the Rapids would experience on this night as it would be all Galaxy from that point.

Just before halftime, Joseph Paintsil scored one from the edge of the area to put the Galaxy back up 2-1. In second half stoppage time, it would be the third of Galaxy’s “Killer P’s” who would put away the Rapids. Riqui Puig would score a pair of goals two minutes apart.
