There is no shortage of experience in the American T20 Cricket World Cup squad. The most notable inclusion is Corey Anderson who played for New Zealand in the 2015 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final.

The 33-year-old left arm seamer has played 33 T20 matches in total for his two nations.

He moved from Auckland to Dallas in 2020, becoming eligible to play for the US three years later and will have the privelege of playing in front of his home town crowd when the USA opens the tournament against Canada in Dallas on June 1.

In total he has played 33 T20 international matches with a commendable batting average of 25.81 and a top score of 94 not out made against Bangladesh in 2017 (for New Zealand) at Mount Maunganui. He has 14 wickets in exactly 60 T20 overs.

Anderson has also played county cricket for Somerset.

The side will be captained by Monank Patel. The Gujarat born wicketkeeper batsman moved to the United States permanently in 2016. With 208 runs in six matches, he was the leading run scorer in the 2018 qualifier tournament.

On the bowling side, paceman Ali Khan recovers from a hamstring injury to make the squad. The 33-year-old Punjabi has lived in the USA for 14 years and has only played internationally for the USA. He has taken more wickets than scored runs, taking five at 29.6 and is yet to score a run.

USA squad: Monank Patel (captain), Aaron Jones (vice-Captain), Andries Gous, Corey Anderson, Ali Khan, Harmeet Singh, Jessy Singh, Milind Kumar, Nisarg Patel, Nitish Kumar, Nosthush Kenjige, Saurabh Nethravalkar, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, Steven Taylor, Shayan Jahangir.
