Sauber to re-brand as Audi from 2026 onwards

Sauber Motorsport will operate as the Audi F1 Team from 2026 onwards, Audi has confirmed.

Sauber, currently branded Alfa Romeo F1 Team, is no stranger to rebrands from its time as Formula 1, previously operating as BMW Sauber from 2006 to 2009.

More recently, the Swiss outfit has carried Alfa Romeo branding since 2019, a deal that was announced to be ending on the same weekend that Audi confirmed their power unit entry at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Now, Sauber will undergo another change when it becomes the factory Audi team in 2026 when the German manufacturer enters the sport.

Oliver Hoffmann, Audi AG Board Member responsible for the F1 project, said:

“We are delighted to have gained such an experienced and competent partner for our ambitious Formula 1 project.

“We already know the Sauber Group with its state-of-the-art facility and experienced team from previous collaborations and are convinced that together we will form a strong team.”

Audi will enter the sport in 2026 as Formula 1 adopts new power train regulations, aimed at cutting costs and carbon emissions further using sustainable bio-fuels.
