The Seaxes are unbeaten this season having drawn their opening match against Derbyshire before defeating Glamorgan, Leicestershire and most recently Sussex.
Middlesex sit at the top of the table, one point clear of Glamorgan with a game in hand. This week’s opponents Nottinghamshire lie in third, trailing Middlesex by nine points.
Last time out Middlesex successfully chased down a total of 370 to win, which they did with a shade over three overs to spare, to win by seven wickets.
Head coach Richard Johnson has named a thirteen man squad for the game against Nottinghamshire, and welcome back Tim Murtagh, with the veteran seamer now recovered from a hamstring injury.
Toby Rowland-Jones is also named in the thirteen after being rested for the trip to face Sussex.
Shaheen Shah Afridi is rested for this match, having played in each of the last three victories. He has now returned to Pakistan to prepare for his time with their national team.
Middlesex’s batsman are certainly in form at the moment with Sam Robson, Max Holden, Martin Andersson, Luke Hollman, John Simpson and Peter Handscomb all amongst the runs in last week’s victory over Sussex.
Remarkably, for a while, the club now have no less than nine of its batters averaging forty or over this season.
One player who will miss out on the match at Lords is batsman Robbie White, who will face a spell on the sidelines having dislocated his left shoulder against Sussex whilst fielding.
Nottinghamshire’s coach Peter Moores has named a 13-man squad for the trip to Lords.
The visitors will be without Dane Paterson due to a back problem. Joey Evison is also out due to Injury. Jake Ball continues his comeback from a long term layoff by playing second X1 cricket and Zak Chappell has joined Gloucestershire on loan.
One player who is very much in form for the visitors is batsman Ben Duckett. The left-hander is currently Notts leading championship run scorer with 430 runs including a hundred and four fifties in his six innings so far.
Nottinghamshire haven’t played at the home of cricket since their Royal London Cup triumph in 2017, with the last time these sides met at Lords in red ball cricket was back in 2016.
Stuart Broad has also been named in the Notts line up in a match that will see how far Middlesex are progressing as they face one of the fancied sides to do well in the championship this season.
