On a night many will never forget, Wycombe survive MK onslaught to reach Wembley

He may have reached 40 but Wycombe talisman Adebayo Akinfenwa has lost none of his sense of humour and perhaps even his ambition.

Speaking after watching his side survive a Milton Keynes Dons onslaught to reach the League One playoff final, he was talking to Talk Sports Ian Abrahams about his future retirement plans.

“If we do it, I may message (Jurgen) Klopp. Who knows? We’ll see!”

The Liverpool manager may or may not be enticed given he has Sadio Mane and Mo Salah already to select from, but one thing is sure. Akinfenwa may not be too out of place in a city renowned for its sense of humour.

He is said to be going into punditry. Colin Murray on EFL Quest may be about to neet his match!
